Day 3 - Kimba to Wudinna 105km

Today's cycling needed more effort than the last two days. I was riding into the wind, and there were many hills to climb.
Apart from these things, it was a pretty uneventful ride. The scenery was mostly wheat fields.

The road trains are getting bigger. Most of the time I spot them in the mirror and move off the road. Even so the drivers will still give me lots of distance, even crossing to the other side of the road. One time I mistook a road train for a car. He couldn't move over because of oncoming traffic and whizzed past me by the width of a handlebar. I was buffeted by the wind, but didn't fall off.

There still isn't mobile phone (Optus) coverage around these parts.

Hi Rob, what an adventure - how do you mistake a road train for a car? Maybe the trip is affecting your mind.

Glad you are going well, with only one flat so far, and we're sure that you won't add to the litter - what an awful comment about the attitude of some towards the environment.

We're looking forward to next Tuesday as it's a public holiday - we probably won't go to the race though.

Milo is just about to be taken for his night walk, he's really looking forward to meeting your cat.

Travel safely - we were wondering how you plan to get back home.

    Best wishes, Katrina and John

  4. We have been following you with your travels and using Google Earth - although the imaging is a bit dated (no wheat in fields). Yet street view gives us some idea of the towns that you encounter on your way.

Keep an eye out for "Trees" - they could be a bit of a hazard.

    Enjoy the ride.
